Dorothy Dehner (1901 – 1994) designed this chess set in 1957 and she cast it in 1993 in an edition of 25. As an artist, she was well known for her paintings, drawings, prints and sculpture. Dehner was married to the artist David Smith from 1927 until 1951. This chess set is accompanied by a marble chess board.
